Founded by prominent Kimberley businessman Louw van Reenen, the MVR Foundation emerged from the vision of continuing the legacy of his late wife, Mia van Reenen, with everyday acts of kindness.
Mia, a warm and generous person, served as a beacon of hope in the Kimberley community, offering charitable donations and support to single-parent households. Her goal was to alleviate the challenges faced by struggling families, and thereby leave the world in a better place. In 2021, the Foundation was formalised in the spirit of Mia’s vision to give back to those in need.
Today the MVR Foundation continues Mia’s legacy by bringing glimmers of hope to seemingly hopeless situations through donations and compassionate initiatives. Dedicated to improving the lives of children from single-parent households in local South African communities where the needs are plenty, but resources scarce, our mission emphasises the transformative power of everyday acts of kindness, acknowledging that even the smallest gestures can create a lasting impact in a child’s life.
Louw van Reenen, as the Founder of the MVR Foundation, is the current Executive Chairman of the Beefmaster Group Board and previously served as CEO of the organisation for 16 years. He was also the Chairperson of the Red Meat Industry Forum from 2021 to 2023. The Foundation was started in his personal capacity.
